Q & A

Q. Can this Touch Plate switch unit be wired as a three way? A. Yes, these function as 3-way low voltage momentary switches. The switch will be wired in parallel to the relay it is controlling, and the relay will respond when receiving a signal from the switch. Q. Can I use this low voltage 2-switch unit to control two different garage doors or dumb waiters? A. Touch Plate switches are used in so many different low voltage applications. As long as the garage doors or dumbwaiters are low voltage (24-30 VDC) and 2-wire/momentary, Touchplate wall switches can work fine. Typically a dumb-waiter or door bell is separate and isn't connected to the low voltage system. So this means it wouldn't be different for a 3-wire system or a 2-wire. Even a garage door switch typically goes right to a doorbell transformer and doesn't connect to anything else, but you would want to confirm that. A momentary switch (SPST) is all that is needed. SPST=Single Pole Single Throw.

Easy to use for granting access through security doors

I installed these 2 button plates for a client to grant access through a set of security doors at a school. They work great and are not hard to press plus they don't wear out. Have sets at 3 desks and haven't had a problem with them.

    Saved our house

We are frustrated home owners of a light relay system. Our system is now 40 years old and there are no electricians in our area skilled enough to fix it. Knowing that Kyle switches has the parts we need is a huge relief. We are constantly purchasing swutches. Our goal is to replace all the switches in our house. Hopefully it will sustain us in our old age.

    great product

I thought the product was very well made. the only problem I ran into was the newer plates were smaller than the original plates and had to patch the walls. they were easy to install and work great.

    Have not used yet

Not being an electrician, I would appreciate a wiring diagram for use in replacing the original Remcon switches, also how to connect them to the wall plate. Thank you.
