Description
Replacement 3 amp 28 volt A.C. white low voltage pilot light switch with on and off buttons for the low voltage lighting systems common in homes built in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. These devices are replacements for switches used in 3-wire low voltage electrical systems for mid century homes. Fits in GE new style and bracket mount light switch plates.
Features
- updated with small LED pilot lighted two-button switch is lighted when ON. Red dot "ON". Use with pilot light relays.
- tells you when a fixture or equipment is still running when out of sight
- 3A 28 V.A.C. (3 amps 28 volt alternating current with 0.04 amp, 28 VAC lamp)
- LED lights: 108mW power usage; white light with 160 to 400mcd Luminous intensity
- wire nuts connectors
- 4 stripped leads on back, wire caps included; red ON, black OFF, white COMMON, yellow PILOT (updated from vintage crimp connector terminals)
- current replacement switch in GE low voltage wiring systems for the discontinued RFS-6 series switches and cover plates. Note that the size of this switch is slightly larger and deeper than original devices and therefore requires a switch plate with a slightly larger opening.
- direct replacement for GE RS2-37P but now with 4 stripped leads instead of crimp connectors
- designed in Canada, newly manufactured GS237P made in Taiwan by GLC

Q & A
These newly manufactured switches are direct replacements for the GE RS237P switches (dual square buttons) that were manufactured from the 1980s - 2020. They are also functionally equivalent to the mini pilot light rockers from the 1950s - 1970s but are slightly larger. In addition, Kyle Switch Plates offers alternative switch styles compatible with GE lighting systems. Please see GE low voltage replacement switches. Please note these new RS237P parts have four stripped leads on the back instead of the old crimp terminals customer found difficult to use.
Q. My vintage GE rocking switches were mounted in a metal bracket. Should I buy a new bracket for these?
A. No, GE's RS237P pilot switches did not require a mounting strap (unless using with Bracket Mount Cover Plates). They simply clipped into the front of the New Style Switch Plates thereby eliminating the need for a bracket altogether.
Q. Can I use these RS23X series style switches with my old yoke/strap?
A. It depends on the type of strap/yoke you have.
Ladder Straps (1950s - 1970s) - If you have a ladder strap that holds 1, 2, or 3 stacked switches, then no, do not use these updated RS237P series switches and do not attempt to insert them into an older ladder-type strap or yoke. These switches are slightly bigger than the old rocking light switches and likely would be damaged - the housing can crack and the buttons can get stuck because the fit would be too tight for proper functionality.
Diamond Straps (1980s - 2020) - If you have the irregular hexagon/diamond straps that hold 1 and 2, or 3 and 4 switches, then these new replacements snap right in. They now have stripped leads instead of the old quick connectors. Diamond brackets are no longer manufactured.
Q. How do I know which buttons are on and off?
A. These new GLC pilot switches are marked on the back of the housing to indicate which button is the ON pilot light (red) and which is OFF (black). There is a dot on the ON/pilot button. As long the switches are installed in your covers with the arrows on the back facing the same direction you will know which is which: the left button is on and the right is off, for example, or the top button is on and the bottom is off.
