Upgrade an older low voltage Touch-plate panel installed from the 1940's - 1990's with a modern 16-relay Soluxe Universal Control Panel with smart features. They come pre-assembled with the power supplies, transformers, relays, programmable Time-Keeper, and web interface. A handy installation booklet is included. These updated panels feature optional LED control (when used with new LED light switches), Master "all ON" or "all OFF" functionality, and even electronic protection against stuck switches.

This Soluxe panel provides full programming of the system through the Time-Keeper programmable unit as well as smart control via the web interface. The Time-Keeper allows for timing, grouping, scenes, sequences, dusk to dawn events, and holiday events. The web interface allows for initial programming via the Touch-Plate Max client Windows software and smart control via any web-connected device (Phone, tablet, computer). Two sets of wires will need to be run to each panel for communication.
Time-Keeper Master Controllers were designed to integrate Astronomic Time-of-Day control with other devices (motion sensors, photocells, wall stations, etc.) to meet all requirements for energy savings and convenient control. The Time-Keeper 2-wire allows control of relays and dimmers with innumerable scenes and timed events. With a direct connection to the Time-Keeper Web Interface (optional), it allows control with a browser-based device.
These American-made relay boards are designed to fit most existing panel locations, which will save on material costs and labor. Q. Does it take longer to install this smart panel?
A. Installing the panel itself should take the same amount of time, but it does take extra time to program it. Basically, every push button would need to be programmed as far as what it controls. Programming can be done by either the electrician or the homeowner to save money.
Q. Could I upgrade in stages if I don't want to add Wifi control at this time?
A. Yes, The ZoneZ panels and the Soluxe panels use the same parts. So a homeowner could purchase a modified panel then add a TimeKeeper panel with web interface at a later time, for example after a few years. The low voltage board would have to be re-programmed to receive instructions from the Time-Keeper, but this can easily be swapped out. There is no charge for re-programming the boards other than the shipping costs.
Q & A
Yes, the Soluxe panel can easily be installed. An installation manual is included with each system purchase. There is a section that addresses upgrading an existing system. Most electricians can figure it out no problem. An electrician is needed to perform the upgrade. A low voltage upgrade includes a lot of wire management, and depending on the state of the existing system, that can either be a simple process or one that takes hours. All the buttons must be programmed before any can be used, so this will take additional time.
I see that these Soluxe relay panels have LED pilot light control. I have the old Touch Plate pilot light switches that are not LED lit, they have the standard red bulb. Will my old pilot light switch units still work with this new panel?
All existing non-lit switches are fully compatible with an upgraded system. The only switches that require a replacement at the time of an upgrade are those with lighted buttons/pilot lights. The original stations used pilot lamps or bulbs and these are not compatible. All lighted stations need to be updated to the newer styles that use LEDs. The wiring run throughout the house can all be reused. Please note, you don't have to use the LED feature of the relay panel; if you have all un-lit switch units there will be no compatibility issues. But having LED compatibility on the relay board will allow you to easily upgrade to LED pilot light switch stations in the future should you decide to do so.
What is the master "all ON" or "all OFF" feature?
The Master ON/OFF allows for one button to control all of the lights. So, at night before going to bed, the homeowner can push the Master OFF button and turn everything off as opposed to having to manually press each individual button. The Master ON is normally used only for a panic/security feature. With one button press, the entire home could light up. The Master ON/OFF works for each group of 8 relays. However, the Master ON/OFF buttons can be grouped by running a wire between the terminals on each board. This would allow you to have an overall Master ON/OFF for the entire system. The purpose of this is to give an ease for the customer with control. The older Touch-Plate systems could not group, so there was one button for each light in the home. Many homes have a master control station that could have between 6-60 buttons.
Are the switch/pilot inputs dry contacts?
Yes, they are dry contacts. Common outputs put out voltage.
The relay panels are sold in quantities of 8, 16, 24, 32, and 40. What do I use if I only need 18?
If only 18 relays are need, consider eliminating (or possibly combining) some areas to reduce the need. Otherwise the 24 relay panel would need to be purchased and there would just be six spare relays.
How many watts can each 20 amp relay support?
Each 20 amp electronically held relay can support 1920 watts, as long as each relay has its own feed from the breaker panel.
