Q. Can I use a pushbutton dimmer at both switches on my 3-way circuit to dim the light fixture?

A. No, only one switch can be a dimmer. The other switch still must be a 3-way switch, just not a dimmer.

Q. Can I install two push-button dimmers next to each other in my wall box?

A. Choose trimmed (derated) dimmers if placing dimmers next to each other in a box. These narrow trimmed dimmers have the side tabs cut off so they can fit side by side in the box; this removes the heat-dissipating tabs so the dimmer can only control a lower wattage ("derated" from 300W to 200W, or 600W to 400W).
